Bonjour! It’s me, Hollie Cook!
The summer is so delicious and in order to make the most of it, I’ve been trying to get some fresh air where there will also be furry pals to make friends with. It’s not uncommon to google “Norfolk + dogs” or something along those lines, in order to narrow down the many seasidey places in East Anglia. According to a website (which seems to no longer exist but it definitely DID exist) Hunstanton is meant to be STELLAR for dogs – plot twist *IT IS*.
I’d never been to Hunstanton before, but it was a strange mixture of all things British sea-sidey. There were obscenely red cliffs that were homing pigeons, people parked in their campers lying in the sun, places to go rockpooling, tacky amusements, a fairground complete with tattoo parlour (seriously) and lots of bald heads, complete with sunburn.
Parking on the big hill, it was easy to ramble down in the BAKING HEAT. First things first, rockpooling and looking a little sandy poopens left behind by sand worms. I’m not sure if we were too late, but there were barely any creatures left behind to have a poke-n-prod at. V SAD ! 😦
Personally, my day was made at the site of this Definitely Trademarked™ HoMrE sImPoNs, advertising the very lardy smelling and probably delicious dUnots. One of the best things about exploring an old-skool seaside is the brilliant signage.
Another favourite is badly airbrushed characters on rickety rides. When the fairground comes around, I’m not very good at rides, but I love it for the sweet smells and the people watching – BUT MOSTLY FOR THE AIRBRUSHING! Feast your eyes on these beauties.
The rides looked terrifyingly unsafe (and great fun), and were mixed in with stalls selling sweet things and the famous tattoo parlour offering sheets of flash, featuring bulldogs (what else), tribal tattoos, England flags, and combinations of all three. BRILLIANT.
OMG BTW – WE SAW 10 DOGS IN A MINUTE. IT IS DOG CITY! I’LL BE GIVING IT 10 DOGS OUT OF 10! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE LOTS OF DOGS, GO TO HUNSTANTON! IT’S BRILLIANT!
I LOVE YOU, BYE! XXXXX
